Product Development and Project Management

Telecommunications

  • Fiber Optic Sheath Removal Tool
IPEG developed the SRT-100. It is a high-speed, battery-operated tool that enables the technician rapid entry into fiber optic cables. The unit precisely cuts through the plastic and armored metallic sheath with speed, precision and repeatability.
  • Fiber Optic Acoustic Sensing System
Research study to review the feasibility of employing optical interferometric technology to provide threat recognition and identification.
  • Handheld RF-ID Unit for Cable Route Identification
Developed feature specification, user documentation and interactive training CD-ROM for a portable hand-held device used by telecom industry to track and maintain knowledge base in outside plant environment.
  • Communication and Database Application
Managed the development of Win NT software application that enables centralized monitoring and management of remote terminal units over the public telephone network.

Pipeline

  • Cast Iron Joint Locator Development
Supported distribution gas company in the evaluation and practical application of new technology to detected buried cast iron joints.
  • Remote Corrosion Detector
IPEG provided customer to developer project management and product specification assistance for the commercialization of a system to identify active corrosion, disbonded coating and provide corrosion rate indication without the need for excavation. Partners include U.S and European gas companies.
  • Remote, Above Surface Mapping of Pipeline Currents
IPEG managed key areas of a development effort to commercialize instruments that, without contact to a pipeline, can determine the amplitude and direction of currents plus identify sections of pipeline effected by stray currents.
  • Non-Intrusive Pressure Monitoring System
Negotiating technology transfer from leading pipeline company to develop a system that will non-intrusively measure pressure and flow direction in gas t
    ransmission lines without hot tapping.
  • Pipeline Valve Leakage Detection System
Involved in the technology transfer from a leading pipeline company to develop a system that will non-intrusively identify leaking gas transmission valves and determines leak magnitude by using acoustic sensing techniques.
